Flying has become the easiest and most convenient way of getting from one destination to another, especially when they are located in different countries. However, long and often flights can take a toll on your health.

Air travel and health are deeply connected in the modern times. The main reason why you may feel unwell during an airplane trip is the pressure caused by the high altitude. The lack of oxygen combined with being stuck in a relatively small space for many hours does not feel good.

If you suffer from any heart disease, your body may not be able to absorb the much needed oxygen. Depending on how serious the condition is, symptoms starting with headaches can occur. Other symptoms can include fainting spells and confusion. If you have a fever, it is advisable not to board on a plane until it has subsided. If you feel sick, try to postpone your trip until you are recovered.

You can minimize the damage a long flight does by using a few tips. If you are not allergic to aspirin, take one with a few hours before your flight. Make sure you wear clothes that you feel comfortable in and let your body breathe. Natural fabrics and sports shoes are a good idea for a long flight.

Try to move around and not sit in one place all throughout your flight. If you spend more than an hour tied up to your chair, you may start feeling uncomfortable and numb. Another good idea is to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Avoid alcohol or caffeine such as coffee. If you have an existing condition, check with your doctor before boarding on a plane, just to be on the safe side.
